The Madden cover curse has struck again, this time before the season even has even started the Packers have been bitten by the bug. Farve the cover boy for Madden 09' has put the Packers, their fans and the NFL in one of the worst spots it could be prior to this season. For one Farve is going to tarnish his legacy as the epic gun slinger and will be remembered as an attention grabbing drama king who now holds Green Bay on the verge of a NFL civil war.
On the one side of the cold war over the frozen tundra we have the 200 something fans that rallied the other day outside Lambeau to have Farve back at the helm and send Rogers back to the bench he has called home for the past three years. Not only does the Pack have Rogers but also spent a first round pick this year on a quarterback in Brian Brohm. Imagine if Farve does come back and sit on the bench, all of Green Bay will be up in arms for the heads of the Pack's management.
If Farve goes anywhere else it gets even worse for the Packers. They can't allow #4 to head to any other NFC team or even an AFC team that plays against Green Bay this year. Imagine Joe Montana on the Chiefs to finish his career, except Farve in a Ravens or Buc's jersey is even less appealing than Montana throwing passes for a sub-par chiefs team.
Farve needs to except his day in the sun has come and gone, Rodgers' deserves his chance and Farve can ride off to the sunset as the gunslinger he is when the Pack retires his # 4 on the first home week of the season.
